We are a substantially separate classroom for students on the Autism Spectrum. The students receive specialized instruction based on their social, emotional and academic needs. The classroom is set up in an ABA (applied behavior analysis) format (click button below for information). This means there is a lot of structure, repetition and skills-based learning.
Students are assessed using tools that best meet their academic/cognitive needs. Grade level or near grade level assessments are used for higher level students and the ABLLS (The Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills-click button for more information) is used for lower cognitive level students. The data is analyzed and then used to drive teaching. Students who are assessed using the ABLLS have specific discrete trial programs.

Students who are able will participate in the MCAS. Most students in our program participate in the MCAS alt. Students in grades 3 and 4 are assessed on 3 ELA and 2 math strands. Parents/guardians will have multiple opportunities to view their child's progress before the portfolio is due in April.
